Service FAQ's

How many hours of service am I required to perform each semester?
To maintain an active standing in the chapter, you must perform 18 hours of community service each semester.

What are outside hours?
Simply put, outside hours are serivce hours not organized by the chapter, hence "outside" hours. Examples are doing community service with your church, or with another club/organization.

How many outside hours can I use to meet my hours requirement for the semester?
A total of 5 outside hours can be contributed to your requirement of 18 hours.

How far in advance can I cancel going to a service event?
We highly suggest you don't do this but if can't attend an event you signed up for, you must notify the contact at least 24 hours before the start time of the event.

What is a contact?
The contact is the person who attends the service event and take attendence of who went. They report to the service chairs about anything that went on during the service event. Being a contact is a great oppurtunity for those who want to take part in a leadership role. Ask a service chair for more details.

What happens if I don't cancel or don't show up to a service event?
You will be docked a 1/2 hour for every hour the event goes on . For example, if an event you signed up for was 4 hours long, and you didn't cancel 24 hours in advance, you will be docked 2 hours.

Can I have negative hours?
Yes.
